If while on the phone you hear a short "beep," you will know someone else is trying to reach your number. To answer the second call without ending the first, press and release the switch hook button quickly. Your first call is placed on "hold" while you are connecting with the second caller.

To return to the first call, press and release the switch hook button quickly.

By pressing and releasing the switch hook button you can alternate between callers and each conversation is private.

Stores the numbers you call frequently, then dials them
with just the push of one or two buttons.
- Choose a one-digit code (numbers 2 through 9) for Speed Calling 8. Choose a two-digit code (numbers 20 through 49) for Speed Calling 30 for each number you wish to enter.
Press *74 (on a rotary phone dial 1174) for Speed Calling Short List.
Press *75 (on a rotary phone dial 1175) for Speed Calling Long List.
- Wait for dial tone. Enter the code you have selected and complete telephone number including the 1 plus area code for long distance numbers. Two beeps will confirm your entry. Then hang up.
- To change a number on your Speed Calling list, repeat steps one, two and three. The old numbers will be automatically replaced in memory with the new number.
- Press the speed dial digits that correspond to the number you want to reach.
Example: Dial 22# (on a rotary phone, dial 22) and your call will be dialed automatically.
Toll charges apply on long distance calls.
- Press and release the switch hook to put your first party on hold.
- After hearing the dial tone, dial your third party.
- When your third party answers, press and release the switch hook button, this connects all three parties.
Press and release the switch hook button to disconnect the last party. If either party hangs up, you may continue to speak with the remaining party.
Returns calls to the number that called you. Solve the mystery of who's calling.
Press *69 (on a rotary phone dial 1169). Listen for announcement that will tell you the phone number of your last caller and will ask if you want to return the call. Just follow the voice instructions.
- Hang up. Your phone will try getting the line for up to thirty minutes.
- You will hear a special call back ring when the line becomes available.
- Your call will automatically be placed when you lift the headset.
Press *89 (on a rotary phone dial 1189), listen for tone or announcement. Hang up.
- When you hear a busy signal, press and release the switch hook to get dial tone.
Press *66 (on a rotary phone dial 1166). Your phone will keep trying the line for up to thirty minutes.
- You will hear a special ring when the line is free.
- Pick up the headset and your call will automatically be made.
This feature allows you to trace annoying telephone calls. By dialing
a special code you can trace the call and the telephone number of the caller
will be printed at your local telephone company.
- After receiving the annoying call, hang up.
- Lift the headset, listen for the tone.
Press*57 (on a rotary phone dial 1157), listen to the voice instructions to dial an additional code and then the call will be traced.
- Listen for confirmation announcement.
NOTES:You must activate Call Trace immediately after the annoying call. If another call comes in or if you hear a Call Waiting tone, you will trace the wrong call. When you receive an annoying call press down the switch hook to disconnect. Once disconnected and dial tone is on the line dial *57 or 1157 if you have a rotary phone. A recording will then come on the line telling you if the call has been traced and if it was traced dial 1 now. There is a one-dollar charge for each call traced. If you do not dial the 1 the call will not print out on our equipment and can not be traced. Should you trace the call during our normal business hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday then call our representative at 611 and if after hours please call the next working day. If the call was traced successfully our representative will document the call. Once you receive three calls from the same number within a thirty day period then this information will be forwarded to the appropriate Sheriff's Department. You will then contact that Sheriff's Department for further action. Piedmont can not release any information concerning the calls directly to you. Some calls are reported by the recording as untraceable. These calls may come from out of our area or from some wireless providers and can not be traced.
This feature allows you to transfer your calls to another number of your choice. You don't have to miss those important calls.
Lift handset. Press *72 (on a rotary phone dial 1172) and listen for a dial tone.
- Dial the telephone number you want your calls transfered to.
Lift the handset. Press *73 (on a rotary phone dial 1173). Then you will hear two short "beeps" to let you know Call Forwarding is no longer activated.
NOTE: You will hear a short ring each time your number is dialed. You cannot answer the calls. This is just a reminder that Call Forwarding is still activated. You will be billed long distance charges for calls forwarded to a number outside your local area.
Select only the telephone numbers you want forwarded and program the destination number to which they are forwarded. All other calls will ring at your phone as usual.
Press *63 (on a rotary phone dial 1163).
- Listen to voice instructions that will guide you through steps of how to turn on and off and how to make changes to your Selective Call Forwarding list.
To add the last caller to your forward list press #01# (on a rotary phone dial 1201).
- To enter your forward-to number, follow voice instruction.
To hear instructions again, press 0.
- You can store up to thirty-two numbers on your forward list.
With this feature you can forward calls to another number when your line is busy or there is no answer after the specified number of rings.
Call Forwarding Busy, press *90 (on a rotary phone dial 1190). Listen for dial tone and enter the number to which the calls will be forwarded.
Call forwarding No Answer, press *92 (on a rotary phone dial 1192), and enter the number to which the calls will be forwarded.
To end Call Forwarding Busy, press *91 (on a rotary phone dial 1191).
To end Call Forwarding No Answer, press *93 (on a rotary phone dial 1193).
- Listen for two "beeps", then hang up.
This feature is ideal for that person that has moved to another permanent location. Your telephone company will forward your calls to that preselected location.
With this feature, the phone will automatically dial a preselected number if knocked off hook for more than thirty seconds. This is a nice feature for the disabled, elderly or handicapped person. Surry Telephone suggests optimal use of this feature by including Personal Ringing or Caller ID on the called party's phone.
Create a list of up to thirty-two numbers with one distinctive ring. The ring lets you know it's one of the callers from your list. Works with Call Waiting and Caller ID.
Press *61 (on a rotary phone dial 1161). Voice message lets you know if feature is on or off. It will also let you know how many numbers are stored in your list (if any).
Follow voice message and press 3 to turn the feature on and off.
Press #01# (on a rotary phone dial 1201).
Press # (on a rotary phone dial 12) then follow voice instructions.
Press * (on a rotary phone dial 11) then follow voice instructions.
Press 1. After the list is read follow voice instructions.
Press 0.
See who the caller is before you answer. You can decide if you want to answer the call. Allows for more privacy and security. You will need a display phone or add-on unit. After the first full ring the caller's number will appear on the display unit.
- The name and telephone number of the caller will appear on your display screen after the first full ring.
- The number will remain on the screen until you or the caller hangs up
- If the letter "P" of Private appears on your screen, the caller has blocked the display of their number. Its up to you whether to answer the call.
- If "Unknown Number" appears, the call is coming from an area or equipment where the information is not available.
With this feature, you can reject callers who have blocked their
number from being displayed on your Caller ID device.
- Press *77 (on rotary phone dial 1177).
- After hearing the confirmation tone hang up.
Press *87 (on a rotary phone dial 1187).
NOTE: If caller has blocked their number from being displayed, they will hear an announcement that you do not accept anonymous calls and they should remove blocking and call again.
Selective Call Acceptance allows you to create a list of up to thirty-two numbers from which you are willing to accept calls. All calls from numbers not on your list will be sent to an announcement stating that you are not receiving calls at this time.
Press *64 (on a rotary phone dial 1164). An announcement will tell you if the feature is on or off. A pre-recorded voice will let you know how many, if any, numbers are stored on your list.
Press 3 to turn the feature on and off.
Press #1001# (on a rotary phone dial 1201).

Selective Call Rejection allows you to create a list of up to thirty-two numbers from which you do not wish to receive calls. Their calls will be sent to an announcement stating that you are not receiving calls at this time. You may change numbers on your list at any time.
Press *60 (on a rotary phone dial 1160). An announcement will tell you if the feature is on or off and also how many numbers are stored in your rejection list.
Press 3 to turn the feature on and off.
Press #01# (on a rotary phone dial 1201) to add the last caller to your list.
Press # (on a rotary phone dial 12) to add a number to your list. Follow voice instructions.
Press * (on a rotary phone dial 11) to remove a number from your list. Follow voice instructions
Press 1 to hear numbers on your reject list. Voice instructions will follow.
Press 0 to hear instructions again.
With this feature, all calls go to a recording that tells the caller that this line does not accept calls from Telemarketers and if you are not a telemarketer, please dial 1 to complete the call. This feature should stop most of the telemarketing calls.
Caller ID Blocking prevents your telephone number from showing on someone's Caller ID display device.
- Per-Call Blocking is accomplished by entering a code that prevents your number from being displayed on a individual call basis before each call.
- Per-Line Blocking is handled through your telephone company and prevents your number from being displayed on all calls.
Press *82 (on a rotary phone dial 1182). Then dial the telephone number you are calling. The person you've called will not see your number on their display screen. Instead a "P" or "Private" will be displayed
NOTES:If you have requested Per-Line Blocking through your telephone company, you do not need to dial a code. All your calls will appear as "Private". To turn off Per-Line Blocking (allowing your number to be displayed) on a individual call, press *82 (on a rotary phone dial 1182) before placing your call.
Voice Mail is an easy to use answering service that offers several advantages over answering machines. All calls to Voice Mail are pass-code protected. Only you can get the messages because you create your own pass-code.
- Set number of rings before going to Voice Mail.
- A means of screening calls.
- Works with Call Waiting.
- Call in and get messages if away from home.
- Call in and change message if away from home.
- Paging and Visual Signal included upon request.
With this service your telephone number will not be published in the telephone directory and it will not be given out through directory assistance.
Great for roommates, teenagers and business. With personal ringing you have a second phone number with a distinctive ring with one phone line. You can determine who the call is for because of the unique ring. Get some of the benefits of a second line at a fraction of the cost. Works with Call Waiting and Caller ID. Please note this feature is not currently active.
We will maintain the wiring and telephone jacks in your home for a small monthly fee.
This feature is designed for the protection of your long distance calling; it prevents anyone from dialing out long distance that does not know the "pass code". You are initially assigned a pass code of "0000". You should immediately change this pass code from the four zeros to any four digits that you want as your PIN number.
- Pick up the handset and listen for a dial tone.
- Dial *97, then 4 zeros (0000), and then four numbers that you want to be your pass code.
NOTE: You will hear a confirmation tone (double beep). Wait for this tone, it may take a few moments, but it is necessary in order for the feature to work.
- Hang up and then pick the phone up again and repeat Step #2.
RESULT: You will receive a confirmation tone. This tone signals that the operation is working. If you receive a busy tone, perform steps 1-3 again.
This feature allows you to control each outgoing long distance call. All you do is press the # sign and then dial your four digit PIN code, then place your 1+ or 7 digit, long distance call. If you don't know your PIN, you can't place the call.
- Pick up the handset and listen for the dial tone.
- Dial the # sign followed by your four digit PIN code.
NOTE: You hear a new dial tone.
- Dial 1+ area code and the number, or your seven digit long distance number.
NOTE: If you use an incorrect PIN, or if you attempt to place a 1+ call, or a seven-digit long distance without the PIN, you will hear a recording telling you the call cannot be placed as dialed. Hang up and try again. Hang up and try again making sure to use the correct PIN.
If you forget your PIN, contact Piedmont and ask them to reset your PIN. Then follow the instructions listed in your PIN information.
You can place a 1-800 number call without using your PIN.
